After Mandela: debate about black identity and the legacy of Mandela

Van onze partners van de Association of students of African Heritage:

Don’t you also feel the need to discuss in an open field about leadership on the African continent? About the development of the black identity, about
Africanism, about what happens after a man like Mandela dies?

ASAH invites you to our three weekly discussions. Our theme we be the post-Mandela-era. We want to hear your perspectives on the big man, even if you
don’t know much about South African history. What do you think he stands for and how does it link to Africanism?

The discussion group will be lead by the young African academic Josh Maiyo. The first session will be on Friday October 7th
from 2pm to 4pm at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. Everybody is welcome, no costs, no examinations, no grades. We will
continue the discussion group as long as it stay fruitful, but for at least three occasions.

We will handout a booklist with major South African books that you are free to read and every session we will invite interesting speakers, see a movie,
have a short lecture about arts or do other things that are relevant. But the most important thing is that you enjoy participating in the discussion
and go home with a bag full of new ideas that you came up with yourself.
